From May through October, the Park features a fresh market — a sort of local street fair featuring more food booths than arts and crafts. Today, Clyde and I joined a hundred of so of our neighbors (and their dogs!), strolling among the squat white tents.
I picked up a bottle of sweet and spicy chili sauce, some fresh green curry, and a small bag of organic squash, zucchini, and cucumbers. After a walk around the lake, we headed home, where I chopped up the veggies, stir-fried them in a wok with chicken and peanuts, doused the results with green curry, and served up a dish worthy of my favorite Thai restaurant.
Several errands later, we found our seats at the Midtown Arts Theatre for an afternoon showing of In the Valley of Elah, a sobering movie about the pain involved in uncovering the Truth. After this: home for some online time, some t.v., and some delivery pizza.
Times like this — days as perfect as the cloudless October sky — make those long hours toiling at the Company worthwhile.
